Experienced Baker to Join Our Team!

We are hiring a baker to join our staff. This is a full-time position with room to grow, depending on qualified candidate.

Job Details

  •  Full-time: Accrued PTO; Flexible scheduling; Night-shift premium
  • M-F; Midnight to 8am; or 4am to Noon
  • Review after 90 days
  • Anticipated Training Period: 40 hours

Purpose

This position will report to Francois Kiemde, Owner, and support La Boulangerie Marguerite’s retail and wholesale operations by:

  •  Working, producing, and perfecting LBM products
  • Training on the existing products under the supervision of an experienced baker
  • Joining a team of bakers and workers committed to producing quality products

Baker Duties and Responsibilities

  • Follow existing recipes
  • Measure, weigh and prepare ingredients
  • Knead, roll, cut, and prepare dough as needed
  • Monitor oven temperatures, speed settings, mixing machines, and other baking equipment
  • Ensure consistency of bakery products
  • Ensure food surfaces and baking equipment meet all health and safety standards
  • Clean and maintain baking equipment, utensils, and tools
  • Monitor items during baking
  • Decorate, glaze, apply icing, and prepare toppings for baked goods
  • Evaluate ingredients and food for quality
  • Operate slicing, cutting, and wrapping equipment.
  • Coordinate deliveries
  • Create new recipes (after completion of 90 to 180 days)

Baker Requirements and Qualifications

  • High school degree or equivalent, preference given to those with baking education
  • Previous experience as a cook, chef, baker's assistant, or relevant work experience is necessary.
  • Able to work early mornings, nights, and weekends
  • Able to work in a demanding environment
  • Able to multitask, prioritize, and manage time efficiently
  • Physical endurance to stand for entire shift
  • Self-motivated and self-directed
  • Works well as part of a team and on individual tasks
  • Physically able to move during the length of shift; able to bend and kneel through shift; able to lift up to 60 pounds
  • Knowledge of sanitation procedures, and state health and safety precautions and regulations

 

Qualified candidates will have experience with:

  • Food production and customer service
  • Baking 2+ years in commercial setting
  • Working on a team

Work Conditions

A Baker's duties are performed primarily in the Bakery department. A Baker may be exposed to various temperature changes and work environments. Work includes walking, standing, lifting, and carrying products weighing up to 60 pounds, eye-hand coordination and interaction with associates.
