  • 45 -50 hours per week; Monday-Friday, and first point of contact.

Purpose

This position will report to the Owners and supports La Boulangerie Marguerite’s retail and wholesale sales by:

• Overseeing our bakery operations, with a focus on profitability, cross-training and mentoring staff; hiring and training staff (as needed); and developing standardized procedures for growth.

Our goal is to improve the retention of employees through the use of metrics with a focus on managing and mentoring staff. We are looking for an experienced food service individual to join our team and allow the owners to have more time for product development and customer service.

Responsibilities:

  • Supervise all employees in every phase of product preparation, operations, and customer service
  • ‪Hire staff and provide ongoing training/cross training in each department.
  • Conduct annual reviews.
  • Evaluate performance of each team member on a regular basis, using our core values as the foundation of the evaluation.
  • Develop and manage Key Performance Indicators and connect each employee directly or indirectly to a measurable KPI to ensure a complete understanding of their purpose and their role.
  • Oversee operations of retail storefront.
  • Manage staff scheduling based on production and retail operations; with operational metrics/ budget.
  • Oversee retail cash handling.
  • Track and monitor inventories; managing and ordering.
  • Maintain superior product quality
  • Meet with owners on a regular basis.
  • Provide information and maintain communications with accountant. 
  • Meet or exceed customer expectations; responsible and accountable for customer reviews (communicating and following up when necessary, with customers); ensuring timely communication of email and phone messages.
  • Resolving customer issues in the moment and developing a feedback loop to discuss customer issues and/or product issues with the owners and with the staff responsible.
  • Celebrate and reward staff who meet and exceed customer expectations – providing feedback to the owners and the staff.
  • Achieve bakery sales goals; lead and mentor the retail sales staff and customer service supervisor.
  • Create and maintain a positive work environment
  • Ensure a clean, organized, and safe production and retail environment, following LBM food safety program.
  • Oversee internal food safety audit.
  • Oversee compliance with any city, county, state, federal agencies.
  • Uphold and promote the La Boulangerie Marguerite image, brand, and culture.
  • Understand Marketing Goals and help establish or communicate on Message with team channels.
  • Meet Quarterly with Owners/ CFO/ Marketing to Review Goals and discuss performance.
  • Lead quarterly staff meetings with all employees.
  • Work in tandem with owners to implement marketing campaign; and new sales channels.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 5+ years in a customer facing food production/ retail sales environment
  • Demonstrated people management experience
  • Management experience in the food service/ production industry.
  • Familiar with food safety procedures and compliance with State and Federal Regulations.
  • Management experience with bakers preferred
  • Management experience with family-owned businesses preferred
  • Solid understanding of customer service
  • Willingness to address equipment or building issues to avoid business interruptions
  • Positive attitude, excellent communication skills, and an understanding of/ability to implement a team approach in the bakery
  • Possesses a strong sense of teamwork
  • Outgoing and friendly personality
  • Ability to work well under pressure
  • Excellent multi-tasker with attention to detail
  • Ability to work with a sense of urgency
  • Experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, spreadsheets, and general computer knowledge
  • Comfortable with learning office systems and processes (ingredient and retail ordering processes)
  • Experience with Financial Reports; Management with a budget.
  • Experience with Clover POS and Pomesys systems preferred.
